Play Half Life 2 and Counter Strike for Hard Cash
Saturday 16 June 2007 - 14:15:35

How about making up for the hard cash you paid for those wireless mouse and keyboard, keeping you on top of the frag list? That's right you console hater, PC gamer, FPS addict. Tournament.com has recently announced their new agreement with Valve on making the sole official site where gamers can play Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike for cash prizes.
Tournament.com co-founder Marcus Pearcey said: "We've worked hard to create a fair and equitable environment for people to compete for money, and offering Counter-Strike: Source and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch completes our attempt to become the world's leader in this service."

By now, your eyes are already spinning dollar signs, only it's not exactly the million dollar deal if you know what I mean. Yeah, sure there will be cash to be earned for showing off veteran skills and cat-like reflexes, but wages are rather small actually: $10 per match. Gamers will have to deposit a certain amount of money before starting to shoot each other, but the maximum allowance is $150. Oh, and you have to be 18 or older to participate. Sorry about that, don't hit the screen, OK?

However, this may not only be good news. Keeping in mind what money does to people and the number of cheaters and a-holes out there...well, let's just say that we hope this doesn't turn into a legal issue. Accounts won't be such a target I'm sure (I sincerely think that a $100 deposit is more than enough for any gamer), but causing others frustration will be for sure.

That's about it. See the official sites for more information.

Eidos Games through Steam
Monday 02 April 2007 - 21:11:47

Eidos has teamed up with Valve to offer its best titles through Steam, Valve's digital distribution system. Famous titles like Battlestations Midway, Just Cause, Hitman, Tomb Raider and Commandos will surely be there on the list and as for the price of each game, they will be US$ 35.95 for more recent games and 17.95 for older titles.

“For over 10 years, Eidos has been a leading publisher on every major
gaming platform," said Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve. "Offering legendary action franchises in complete sets and working with Eidos to deliver new releases is a great step forward in our efforts to expand Steam's offerings, and to do so in ways that provide highest value to customers.” And there's more: if you acquire any Eidos published title until 26th March, you'll get a ten percent discount.

Steam is a content delivery, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications service and platform developed by Valve Corporation for digital entertainment. It is currently used to digitally distribute and manage games. Some of the most famous downloaded and played games via Steam are Half-Life and Half-Life 2.

Steam purchases are made through the client software, with an encrypted connection. All prices are listed in USD rather than the user's local currency. Now, tax is not applied to the quoted price until the very last stage of the purchase, after the user has entered their billing information, so you have all the means to safely download whatever game you wish without any head aches. Well, you don't need all the details really, it's idiot proof. Just check out the official site.
